Cancer Support France New Website

Welcome to our new-look website

Cancer Support France New Website

Since November last year, we have been developing a new website, with the valuable aid of a small web design company, Pixel Point Design. We hope that the appearance and layout improves your experience of visiting us online. Our primary aims were to:

  • Update the site to reflect the latest website design practices
  • Attract more visitors who in turn, gain more from their visit
  • Continue to fulfil our fundamental purpose and ethos, catering to our key audiences

We would very much appreciate hearing your views and any suggestions you have for improvement. The website will evolve further over time, I am sure, and your input will help us to continually improve what it offers.

Please send your thoughts via our contact form, or directly to: . Any email you send will be responded to. We look forward to hearing from you.

CSF Dordogne-Sud Curry Night and Stall at the Christmas Fair

Shades of Marigold Hotel! A colourful curry night took place at the lovely home of Charlotte and Nigel Halsby on Tuesday the 26th of November in aid of Cancer Support France Dordogne Sud. An amazing variety of curries were made from mild to Madras. Samosas, curry puffs and lots of other goodies made over 60 guests come back for more. A table quiz, Indian music and lovely costumes set the scene for an informal and entertaining evening, and new clients came forward who needed our support and that is what it’s all about. CSF were also present at two recent Fairs with the opportunity to meet and talk to clients. In Bergerac, we were invited to join the Dordogne International Ladies at their autumn Fair. A week later we were in Castillonés for a Christmas Fair where we had lots of Christmas presents on sale and raised over €300 for the charity.

Latest Kilimanjaro Update

Less than a month to go before the brave trio of Julie, Tan and John set off on their expedition to climb Mount Kilimanjaro!

The threesome are delighted to say they have reached their funding target of €3000.  However, if you wish to donate, they are still collecting for Cancer Support France.

They leave from Toulouse on 21st February, and arrive at Kilimanjaro, Tanzania via Amsterdam, on the 22nd. They get set and ready on 23rd before starting the climb on 24th February. If they are successful (fingers crossed!) and get to the top, they will summit on Leap Year’s Day – 29th February. It’s 5 days to complete the ascent and 2 days to get back down.

Their training seems to be going well. They are now walking up to 65kms per week and have been taking on slightly more challenging routes including parts of the Santiago de Compostela Pilgrim Routes.

For those of you who are interested, here are a few attachments with regard to their trek to the top of Kilimanjaro.

For an outline of their route, take a look at the following link: –

Also, if you wish to ‘follow’ them up the mountain from the safety of your armchair, check out the Kandoo Facebook page below, from 24th February. They will publish daily pictures of their journey and hopefully they will be there and still smiling!

Here is a short video of a recent trek up Kilimanjaro using the same route. Take a look!

Finally for those of you who still wish to sponsor them, we attach the link to the donation page: – https://www.alvarum.com/julietanjohn

CSF Go To Market

In these difficult times of fear of catching the Covid virus with lock-in’s, lockdowns and lock-ups, we still have to remind those who might need us that we are here and ready to help. A team of members recently set up a gift stall in Beaumont-du-Périgord market and were delighted with the response. Trade was good and some funds were raised but the most valuable part of the day was the contacts that were made with market-goers from the area. When we talk about the work that CSF does, it is rare that we do not find someone who needs help and this was a great opportunity to tell visitors about what we do; we received a number of requests from those who had not heard about CSF. It was a very successful day, spreading the word and creating awareness that CSF is ready to help anyone touched by cancer. Many thanks to Finn Kennedy, Dr Francette Baillet, Kate Wildey, Suzie Brewster and Kathleen Chambers for such a good day.
